Paul Cropper

Paul CropperWhile at Needham High School, Paul Cropper got along well with others and was friends with a diverse group of kids whether they were working on cars or the star student athlete. At NHS, he learned that “relationships with people are key to succeeding in career and in life.” Paul attributes his ability to build relationships across groups at NHS with the success he has had in his 18 year career in high tech sales.

Paul is currently Director of Sales, US Commercial, for Cisco Systems, a $48 Billion Fortune 100 company with over 74,000 employees. In his role, Paul is responsible for leading a $1B+ services business in the Commercial market. His team brings Cisco Consulting, Advanced Services, and Technical Services solutions to market across retail, healthcare, manufacturing, financial, and energy sectors.

Prior to Cisco, Paul led the go-to-market for Dell Corporation over a seven year period as Director of North America Sales. Prior to Dell, he served as Regional Manager and Account Executive at Gateway Computer selling computer hardware, software, and services to the K12, Higher Education, and Government sectors. During high school, Paul played Junior Varsity Hockey and Lacrosse. He fondly remembers math teacher Susan Corbesero, “she always believed in me and made it a point to help and encourage me.” After graduating from NHS in 1985, Paul learned his Associate Degree from Broward College, and both his Bachelor’s and MBA from Dallas Baptist University. Paul would like to tell today’s Juniors “to believe in yourself and there is no limit to your success. Hard work will pay off.”

Another message Paul would like to impart to students is that “overcoming adversity is a critical success factor in career achievement and in life.” He explains this in connection with two life-changing events that directly impacted his family. The first was in 1998 when Paul’s wife Sarah survived a brain aneurism rupture. The second came in 2003 when his then two year-old daughter Claire was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. Today, both Sarah his wife of 21 years and Claire serve as inspirations to Paul and his family on a daily basis. Paul and his family have supported several charities and
organizations over the years including JDRF, Diabetes Charitable Services, and Meals on Wheels as a way to give back to the community. Paul is also an avid distance runner and road biker. He is a cofounder of the Blazing Saddles cycling group in Dallas, TX.

Paul lives in Southlake, TX with his amazing wife Sarah and three children, Nick (18), Claire (13) and Grace (11).
